FAQ
short answers.

The questions buyers ask first. Each answer links to the page with the details.

01The product

Is this a launchpad or a meme-coin creator?

No. There is no bonding curve, presale, fundraising flow or price anywhere in the product. It creates tokens that do a job: memberships, licences, points, credits, passes, a reward token with a transfer fee, a whitelist token.

Does the app hold or ask for private keys?

No. It builds and simulates transactions and hands them to you unsigned. You sign with your own multisig, script or wallet, then paste the signature back. A test checks that the app imports no signing library.

Does it need a server or database?

No. It talks to Solana over JSON-RPC from the app itself. Settings and the audit trail are stored on the device (Configuration).

Which token standard does it use?

Token-2022 (Solana's token extensions program). It has no Solana SDK dependency: every instruction is encoded in lib/core/token2022/ and lib/core/solana/, readable in the package.

Does it work with the classic SPL Token program?

No. It creates and reads Token-2022 mints. Tools that only know the classic program will not see these tokens; step 5 says so.

Is there a Windows or Linux version?

Not in this version. The package contains web, macOS, Android and iOS projects.

02Setup and cost

Do I need an API key?

You need your own Solana RPC endpoint; a provider's free tier is enough to start. The package contains none (how to add yours).

Why does the forge not create the mint keypair for me?

A tool that generates your mint key has held it. Make it with solana-keygen (how).

What does creating a token cost?

Rent for the mint account plus the network fee, paid by your fee payer. The review step shows the rent read from the cluster at build time. On devnet it is free test SOL.

Can I try it without spending anything?

Yes. It starts on devnet, and mainnet stays locked until you switch on Allow mainnet. The live demo at forge-demo.mikodes.com is the web build on devnet.

03Tokens

Can I change extensions after the token exists?

Almost never. Extensions are written at creation. Some settings (for example the fee rate, while you hold its authority) can change; the extension set cannot. That is why step 5 exists.

Can I take a membership back from a holder?

Yes, with a permanent delegate: burn it in Console → Revoke. It cannot be moved, because the token is non-transferable (Revoke).

Does an expiry date lock the token automatically?

No. The valid-to field is information; your systems read it, and you revoke if needed (Expiry).

Will my token show in wallet X or list on exchange Y?

The forge does not claim to know. It names the surfaces where a venue decides, and you record what you observe on devnet in the venue-check register (how).

How do I earn with it?

With a Reward token, a transfer fee is withheld for you on each transfer; with the other presets you sell the entitlement through your own checkout. The forge adds no fee of its own (Earnings).

I renounced an authority by mistake. Can it be restored?

No. No Solana instruction gives an authority back. The only remedy is a new mint and moving holders to it.
